My name is Tarisai Tara, the co-founder of  Yadley.com. I am an aviation entrepreneur, writer, friend of God and citizen of the world. This is my story…

I had a very uplifting online chat with a former lecturer of mine from Midlands State University this morning. I can say he was God sent because I hadn’t spoken to him since I graduated two years ago and yet what he said to me opened my eyes, mind, and heart.

Apparently, he saw a Facebook page I opened for one of my projects and was curious about it. To be honest, when he first asked me “what it was all about” I got defensive because from past experiences when someone asks you that question they have pretty much made up their minds that your ambitions or choices are misguided.

Thus the first few minutes into the conversation I was quite guarded and I was just responding out of respect for the man who imparted knowledge to me for four years at university.

I was looking for an escape strategy having forwarded him the company profile that I give to anyone who asks me about the project. He was quiet for a few minutes after I sent him the document, then he asked me the one question that changed my life.

“ARE YOU ENJOYING IT” that’s what he asked. To be honest with you I didn’t respond for over 5 minutes because I have never been asked that question in my life.

I was in school for a long time so I am familiar with all kinds of questions.Three years of kindergarten, seven years of primary school, four years of secondary school, two years of high school and four years of university and the one question the world failed to ask me was “ARE YOU ENJOYING IT”.

As soon as he asked me that question, it dawned on me that most of my life I did all I did out of the need to fulfill a duty….to whom I don’t know.

I  remembered that when I was doing my O’level I was in a Sciences class, I failed maths and science all the time and the teachers kept pushing me and so my grades ended up falling in other subjects as well because I was always stressed up. Maybe if someone has asked me: “Are you enjoying it?” I would have been put in an Arts class instead because that was my strength and passion. The reason I had qualified for the Sciences class (which was the top class) to begin with was because I had high grades in arts subjects but I guess nobody bothered to check up on that.

I could go on and on about all the times that it would have made a difference if only I had been asked “Are you enjoying it?” but I am here and I made a decision today to look at everything that I am involved in and ask myself  “Are you enjoying it?” if the answer is a ‘no’ then I am going to do something about it.

You too can join me, go ahead take a clear look at everything going on with you:

Your relationship, “Are you enjoying it?”
Your job,”Are you enjoying it?”

Your faith,”Are you enjoying it?”

Your business, Are you enjoying it?

So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people to do in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them. (Ecclesiastes 8:15)
